The last time I made a post was pre A-levels… I am now out the other side having completed my 9 exams. I thought it was time for a long overdue update with my injury and my plans for the summer. Injury: So it has been a while since I updated you all on my injury. The last thing I shared was my first MRI scan (read about the results here). Since then I have spent 4 weeks in a boot and had a 2nd MRI scan which showed a reduction in the bone marrow oedema. However I still experience pain in my lower tibia most days. My consultant and physio have come to the conclusion that because I have been injured for so long now, the nerve pathways have become hypersensitive to pain, sounds quite interesting so I’m going to read up on it (my interest in medicine coming in here aha). Moving forwards we will be working on breaking this cycle of pain and slowly introducing cycling and running again. I am finding it really hard at the moment watching everyone racing again, especially triathlon. I know I have to focus on my recovery, and I will be back soon. Exams: It has been an intense few months of studying and exams, I think like many, I became a hermit and spent pretty much most of my days revising. I broke up the day to make sure I didn’t burnout; I would do some exercise at 3ish as I found that this was the time I would lose concentration. Revision and exams are exhausting and super tough; such a difference to GCSEs in terms of content and revision techniques. Personally, I found after an exam I was completely whacked out and found it so hard to revise for the next days exam. I also found it hard not to beat myself up about a bad exam but I knew I had to keep moving forward and it would be over in no time. My 9 exams were spread over 3 weeks with 3 in the 1st week, 4 in the 2nd week and 2 in the 3rd week. The 2nd week was vile to be honest with exams on consecutive days I felt completely burnt out and knew that I would only just about make it to the end of that last week. I had many meltdowns (surprisingly less than GCSE) but I think this was because I had put so much pressure on myself, I knew I needed to get the grades for university, and I was completely and utterly exhausted. And this leads me to now… summer and freedom! The first Thursday, Friday and Saturday were spent partying with friends followed by the perfect chill day on Sunday… a weekend I had been looking forward to all through exams! Right now it feels so weird to have nothing to do all day! I have just got back from a long weekend away in Rome with my auntie. I loved exploring the city and visiting the ancient monuments. Being a tourist was tiring due the heat (43 degrees) and the large amounts of walking each day. Luckily large amounts of gelato were consumed heehee. The next few weeks are going to be spent working and meeting up with friends before I go away at the beginning of August to the Lake District and then straight onto Boardmasters festival!!
Oh and I passed my driving test just before exams which makes life so much easier and I can be more independent + I love driving haha. I’m going to try and get back into my blog but my summer is busy so please bare with. I will be finishing the athlete mentality series, maybe some new recipes and general catch ups.
