So after a few heavy blog posts recently I thought I would do another ‘things I am loving lately’ to catch up and seeing as I haven’t done one since last summer…oops! Life has been very busy recently with Year 13 mock exams and university interviews but it has been so nice to chill and take a break this week, even if I did the dreaded winter cold. ‘Cleaning Up’ No not actually cleaning, but the TV show on ITV. I started watching this with my family the other day and it is very good. It is quite hard to explain without either making it sound rubbish or running the story but basically it is about a lady who is a cleaner (haha no guesses there) but she also has a gambling addiction and gets into the secret world of insider trading. Very gripping and I am looking forward to watching the other episodes. Family time Before and after the Christmas holidays I was caught up in revision and interview preparation so spent a lot of time in my room or at the school library working. Recently it has been really nice to spend time with my family, go on dog walks and watch films together. My brother and I get on really well (most of the time) I have enjoyed doing gym and swim sessions together, he also always does my rehab with me in the evenings; a good time to catch up on each other’s day and gossip. Swimming I am missing running more and more each day but I am really loving swimming, I have got so much stronger in the pool since my injury and rekindled my childhood love for swimming. I know I have talked about this lots already but thought I would throw it in here seeing as most of my training at the moment is in the pool. Learning to drive Just before the Christmas holidays I started driving lessons with my dad. At first I was terrified to drive and kept putting it off but now I love it and can’t wait to be able to drive on my own ie. Pass my test. I usually drive to the pool/gym and to school; it is an experience especially when Angus is the car too as my dad makes us both crack up. Hopefully I will have a few lessons with an instructor soon. Physiotherapy and ankle treatment As you may know I have seen so many physiotherapists but the one I am currently seeing is by far the best. He has worked with elite athletes before and recognises that I want to get back to doing what I love asap. I really appreciate his determination and he seems as if he won’t give up. After being to the doctors so many times about my ankle/shin and being turned away just being told to take ibuprofen, on Friday I was finally referred to an orthopaedic consultant and for a possible MRI. Things are looking up even if I am feeling down about it all at the moment. You lovely lot I want to thank you all for all your lovely, encouraging messages this week. I apologise for the negative vibes recently as I am totally fed up with it all now but I know that it is not the end of the world, as Ellen has shown this weekend with her qualification for English Schools after 2 years of injury and rehab. Weather Clear blue skies, bright sunshine and frosty! This is by far my favourite running weather (even if I am not running at the moment, dog walking makes up for it; being able to get outside.) Of course I prefer summer as it is warm and you don’t have to wear 1000 layers but going for a dog walk then coming home/going to the pub for hot chocolate/mulled wine is perfect. Anyway, hope this gave you a little insight into things I am loving lately. I hope you all have a good week. Can’t believe it is nearly the end of January!!
