COVID19: The topic of discussion everywhere! The last few weeks have been filled with uncertainty as is the future with this mutated version of a coronavirus – COVID 19. This uncertainty, lack of routine and being inside most of the time can be harmful to one’s mental health. It is so important that we follow the rules set by the government to prevent further spread of the disease, protect the vulnerable and try to reduce any extra strain on the NHS. I have so much respect for all those working in the NHS/healthcare system during this frightening and dangerous time; they are putting themselves at risk to help others. I, like many others wish I could help out too but unfortunately don’t yet have the qualifications. However, I have registered to become a NHS responder so I can chat to people feeling lonely and isolated, help with shopping and getting prescriptions etc. I would highly recommend registering if you can – no qualifications required, just time, patience and a smile. “Let’s smile, not because we don’t have problems but because we are stronger than the problems” “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours” Ok don’t deny that many of you have TikTok now…yes, it is an isolation essential for a laugh, or a serious thing if you are that person becoming TikTok famous. However, the other day I saw a serious video about COVID19 and how the least we can do for our country is stay inside. The older generations had to fight in the trenches and battle in wars for our country and all we are being asked to do is stay inside and watch TV/work/chill. This really hit home so please please follow the guidelines. You may be thinking, what am I meant to do with all this time? We are not at university, school or work at the moment so how can we fill the days and not get bored? Being inside all this time is going to cause my mental health to deteriorate! Structure your days I think the most important thing is structuring your days; whether it will be a chill day or a productive day. Every night before bed I have been writing on my whiteboard what I want to do the next day including: 1. Training/a bit of exercise to stay active otherwise I will go crazy aha
3. Help around the house
4. Make sure to allow time to chill out, for this me has been in the form of Netflix and bullet journaling recently. 5. Any other bits and bobs
My goals during this isolation period:
9. Be a community responder and do what I can to help in this crisis Other things to do to improve your mental health during COVID19
Yes I repeated myself in this post I think but what I want to get across is please look after yourself and those around you. Find ways to keep busy and active. I will always be here for a chat if anyone wants, just pop me a message. I’m happy to help in any way that I can. Lots of love and stay safe, Immie <3
