Something a bit different for this week’s post… I have spent this week away with my parents, brother and grandparents in Dorset in a holiday cottage my grandparents booked for us all for my Grandad’s 80th birthday. It was lovely to spend some time away after a full on first half term of school, explore Corfe and Swanage (even though we have been before) and to catch up with my grandma and grandad after our summer in Canada. After mostly recovering from the great south run, we left on Tuesday afternoon, unknown to my Grandad we were to surprise him at the pub for dinner in the evening. It was great to see him so surprised when we were sitting at the table that they had booked for what he thought just the four of them (my auntie and uncle, grandma and grandad). We had a nice meal together, I mean apart from the fact that the pub had the smallest vegan and veggie range of food I have ever seen! We then went back to a B&B where we would spend the night because there was not enough room in the cottage for 8 people. Wednesday... After going for a run around Swanage in the morning, we drove over to Corfe (the holiday cottage was there) to meet everyone and we went up Corfe castle. The weather was gorgeous so you could see for miles.
I had to walk back a bit earlier because unfortunately I have mocks in all subjects this week – starting on Monday so I had to do some revision. My auntie and uncle then left and we spent the evening watching ‘Eat well for less’ :) Thursday Oh my golly goodness, Thursday’s run was the wettest and most muddy run I have ever been on, including XC! (you probably saw this on my insta story). Mum and I headed out on what we thought would be a nice run over the hills together but this idea first changed when we got lost in the middle of a cow field that was very very wet, there was no sign posts and no signal so we climbed over one of the two stiles in the field which then landed us in a bog… after a muddy long time we arrived back at the cottage covered in mud. Later in the morning, my brother, mum, dad and I went out on a walk/hike to Worth Matravers, it was a 7mile round trip that was also very muddy, at points it felt like were ice skating because it was so slippy. We ended up in valleys of mud but eventually made it to the pub for lunch. When we got back I did a bit more revision and then I cooked a curry for everyone. Friday A bit of a contrast to Thursdays run, I ran up a very steep hill but the view at the top was amazing, I just caught the sun coming up and excuse the cringe but I felt very lucky! As soon as I got back we headed to the beach, it was heaving but no surprise really because the weather was stunning- quite cold but very sunny. After a few solid hours of revision, my mum, dad, brother and I went for a walk to Old Harry’s Rocks, the sun was beginning to set and my brother (a keen photographer btw) and I were desperate to get a photo of the rocks even after our parents said that we wouldn’t make it and would have to turn round to get back in time for dinner, therefore my brother and I ran 1.5miles in our wellies to get a photo, yes it was a little crazy but worth it and we did get back in time for dinner. We left this early this morning and although I had a fab time I am happy to be home now. I am sat in front of the fire in my PJs about to have dinner- my favourite kind of evenings. I hope you have enjoyed reading about my week away ,sorry it was quite long, I would love to hear what everyone has got up to this week too. I hope you have all had a well-deserved half term xx Imogen xx <3
