Adidas and prodirect shoot When ProDirectRunning asked me if I was around on the 16th of May to shoot with them and Adidas there was no doubt in my mind; it was such a cool opportunity that I wouldn’t want to turn down. I was the youngest person there which was a bit daunting and I was quite shy but I gradually ‘came out of my shell’ and really enjoyed the day. The Solar Boost are much more comfortable than I expected ; they are so light compared to my other trainers which is perfect for speed sessions and races. (I am actually wearing them for my triathlon today)I caught the train up to London with my mum, just as we got on the train (literally hadn’t been on it 5mins) I got an email from the organisers saying that they were delayed by an hour which meant we had an hour to fill when we arrived in London which wasn’t an issue particularly as we went to a café in brick lane which was really nice. It was then time to head to the Adidas studio, I had know idea what I was meant to day or do but when I came in an adidias ambassador met me at the door and made me feel welcome and explained the plan. Soon later we headed out for a run after a technical talk (which was really interesting, hearing about Adidas’ __________) After a few warm up shots, we carried on to a park to get some running shots. Overalll I had a really good experience and am thankful to prodirect and adidas for the opportunity. First BMC
So as I mentioned on my Instagram, on Wednesday I took part in my first BMC at Withdean, competing in the 1500m which although is not my favourite race, Emma persuaded me to do it and I had a really nice time. At the Sussex Championships Emma suggested that I did it and I could stay over at hers after because she lives so close to Withdean. I caught the train to Brighton in the afternoon so that we had enough time for a bit of a chill, dinner, travel and warm ups before the race. One thing you may have seen on my Instagram or Emma’s, was our unique dinner: porridge! Yes we had porridge for dinner because we knew that it would fuel us without it feeling too heavy in our stomach + it is delicious; you can never go wrong with porridge. It was an honour to experience a FruitsandRoutes breakfast ahha. We soon left for Withdean. My race was at 20:50 and Emmas was at 20:34 but we wanted to cheer and warm up so left with plenty of time to do so. Numbers collected, obligatory toilet stop, time to cheer and warm up- multitasking! Time flew by and before we knew it, Emma and Lois were at the start line; I was on photographer duty. I jogged round the track, getting in the zone with my music and taking photos as they went passed. As I may have mentioned before, I have realised that my mindset greatly affects my performance so I have to try really hard to stay positive, which isn’t always easy but I find that warming up on my own just before the race and listening to music really helps! My race soon came and when I got to the start line, let’s just says it was kind of embarrassing to see so many U13 and U15, I think there was only one other U20 and then a few veterans. I know that 1500m is not my race and I am not particularly speedy so fair enough. I enjoyed the race; again I felt I could’ve made the last lap faster, I felt like that at the Sussex championships too. I managed to overtake the other U20 on the final straight but unfortunately a U15 overtook me so close to the finish (I didn’t realise how close we were to the finish… gutting) Emma and I cooled down, cheered on some of the 3000m and then began our run home. It was 5k back to Emma’s, we ran through Brighton, which is mostly pavement - not ideal because my ankle became quite sore so we had to cut it a bit short. It was really nice to catch up with Emma + we ended up having quite deep discussions about overtraining, mental health, social media and life. We are planning a cheeky collab too! We stretched, foam rolled and then went to bed. Oh my goodness, using Emma’s hockey ball on my arches and bum was a life saver, I highly recommend ahaha. I hope everyone has had a good half term. Mine has been very hectic and I still have stacks of revision to do. Next weekend’s blog post will be on my triathlon today which I loved a lot.
