After my inconclusive poll on my story I have decided to write a post on Be:Fit 2018. I will write about starting triathlon next weekend so keep your eyes peeled. Yesterday morning wasn’t exactly relaxing. I woke up to my Mum going to hospital; she thought she had broken her foot and couldn’t walk (luckily it wasn’t broken after an X-ray). This meant that Beth and I had to go up on our own. We got the tickets fine and got on the train ok until we reached Gatwick. This is where it all went wrong. The train broke down and we had to get another one but we had no idea where to go or which platform. We finally arrived at Victoria and got the tube to Angel station. After a quick walk we arrived at Be:Fit. We hadn’t booked any classes but as soon as we turned up someone said there were spaces available in the spin class, so we jumped in. We had no idea what we were in for but we love a good spin class. We started at an easy pace and then built it up, working on endurance and hills. Unfortunately disaster stuck and Beth got a heavy nose bleed; we had no tissues but we improvised ahha and she used her vest (eek). The class was 45 minutes, the majority of it was hill work but for the last 15 minutes we did some speed competitions. The group was divided up and we had competitions of who could produce the highest power/wattage. This was intense but fun! During this time somebody was taking photos of Beth and I - how delightful, super sweaty photos. After the class, Beth and I headed down to the stands to refuel. First stop was water and then the 'Oatly' stall. They were running a competition to win a free t-shirt and a carton of oat milk. You had the ring the bell with the hammer… do you know the fairground event that I am talking about? Beth and I had a go at it but we were lacking in energy after the spin class so we decided to come back later but we did get a free coffee with frothy oat milk. We went round the stands, collecting freebies and buying some bits and pieces including a nice stack of bars. When we went past one of the stalls they tapped Beth on the shoulder and asked if we had just done a class, told her she had a sweaty bum (how rude) and that she needed to get better pants – they were trying to sell her their pants; I couldn’t stop laughing and Beth was standing there feeling very awkward (so would I if it were me). After my Mums hospital trip which came back positive she decided that she didn’t want to miss out on Be:fit so she came up later and met us to do another class. She couldn’t really do a HIIT class because of her foot so we did a runner’s strength and conditioning class. It was no way near as good as the spin class (which I loved) but it was useful as I learnt how to prevent injury and different plyometric and core exercises. We then went round a few more stands including Perkier and CocoPro. Perkier stand… We had a good chat with the lady on the stall about running and food (heehee), did a photobooth, signed up to be ambassadors and thekeanbeanrunningmachine also got a cheeky follow from Perkier which made me happy as they are one of my favourite brands. CocoPro… Some of the people behind the stands were so lovely and very happy to have a chat. It was my first time trying their drinks and oh my golly, they taste so good. My favourite was the pineapple one. They were running a competition to win a free carton of coconut water. You had to spin the wheel and then get a card. I went first and my card said “do 5 burpees”, I had to do this in front of all the people around us which was a little awkward but who cares + I got a free carton of the pineapple coconut water. Beth then did it and sadly her card said “you were not successful sorry” but she still bought a few cartons ahaha. It was nearly time to leave to get the train home but we had to go back to the ‘Oatly’ competition. Beth had a good old whack at it and bamm she hit the bell, yasss! Another woman went after Beth and hit it on her first go, say what! I had another go and got so close but didn’t ring the bell, I kept going and going and going, had a break then went again; I was determined! After a good few go’s I came so close (literally mm's off the bell) but never hit it; I was getting very tired. A man with his friend had a go and hit the bell pretty much straight away, we cheered and then he turned round to me and said “that was for you, here, have my t-shirt”, he was so nice and I was super grateful. I thanked him and he said “you were so determined, you deserved it and it suits you.” What a gentleman! We had to go otherwise we would not catch the train in time so we waved goodbye to Be:Fit (until next year) and headed to the tube station. When we arrived at Victoria, Beth and I realised how much we were matching; same ‘Oatly’ t-shirt, Nikes, our Kankens and our ‘Kind’ bag of freebies. We popped into M&S to get some dinner and got on the train. I had such a good day to finish off my super good week. As you may have seen on my Instagram, I have been so happy this week and laughed so much. Although we have mocks coming up and I have had lots to do, including choosing university open days to go to and prepping for my saxophone exam (basically what I am getting at is lots of things with pressure) I have become mindful of the fact that you only get one shot at each day and you should make the most of it; spend it with the people you love and who make you happy, do what you love and dream big! You don’t know what tomorrow will be like so go for it (I know this is very cringe but it is true). A quote that I found on Pinterest that sums this up… SMILE OFTEN, THINK POSITIVELY, GIVE THANKS, LAUGH LOUDLY, LOVE OTHERS, DREAM BIG! I hope you enjoyed reading about my day at Be:Fit, I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about going next year!
