It has been a long while since I last did one of these but I thought it would be an idea to do one as I comeback from injury (even if my foot has flared up recently and stopped me in my tracks slightly) and with a new training schedule at university with the triathlon squad. Monday: 1h30mins swim with triathlon club covering 3.6km Mondays are usually speed sessions with drills. Tuesday: Rest day. I usually have these on a Saturday now but I was at the GP on placement all day so was shattered by the time I got home so decided not to train. As I have mentioned in many blog posts, rest days are essential to let your body recover and a reminder to look after and listen to your body. Wednesday: Am…1h10min swim with triathlon club covering 3.8km. Wednesday morning sessions are usually 2hour endurance sets, we cover a lot more distance (more like 6km) but I had to leave early as I had my first dissection to get to at 9am. Pm… 35minutes on the wattbike + rehab in the gym Thursday: 7km run/walk 2(6mins, 2mins W), 3(4mins, 2mins W), 3(2mins, 2mins W) Thursday evenings are usually S&C with the tri performance squad but I was not feeling up to it after a long day so had a nap heehee. Friday: 1hour swim with triathlon club covering 3.1km The session is 1h30 but I had a lecture at 9am that I had to walk to. Friday evenings are usually yoga which is a perfect end to a week of training and study before a night out usually aha. This week I had lots of work to get through and again think I would have fallen sleep after two very long days in a row. I also wanted to catch up with all my flatmates. Saturday: 6.6km run/walk 3(6mins, 2mins W), 2(5mins, 2mins W) Sunday: 23km cycle This was my first cycle in Nottingham so I got a little lost and had to rely on google maps quite a bit but it was so nice to explore in the most gorgeous weather. Pm…40 mins of rehab and abs in the gym My training will vary from week to week due to my timetable and how I am feeling but it usually contains most of the same sessions. I know this isn’t the most exciting post but it gives a little insight into what I am doing with triathlon. Before, I just used to run most days, so it has been strange trying to mix up the weeks of training throughout injury. As much as I enjoy training, I just can’t wait to be able to go for a run whenever I feel like, it won’t matter how far I run and what pace I can just be free with it again.
Hope you are all good, I think my next blog post will lead on from this one with swim set ideas. Immie <3
