A week in training I have been really stuck on what to write for my upcoming blog posts recently- I want to mix it up a bit - not always race reviews and recipes. A few weeks ago, I wrote a long list of blog post titles but I have completely lost it; so annoying. Anyhow I thought that perhaps writing a week in training would be interesting and maybe helpful. A couple of days ago I made some polls on my story of which many of you voted for training plans. This week wasn't leading up to any races at the weekend and was just an average week of school and training. Monday
7miles at an easy pace in the freezing cold- motiavtion levels were low so I decided on a relaxed run Tuesday 7miles again, at a faster pace incorporating fartlek in. Wednesday: Chichester Runners Phil (our coach) is unwell so hasn't been at training for a few weeks so we decided to do our own session. 1mile warm up Strides 5x 600m fast laps with 3minute recovery in between Followed by 2x300m fast with a recovery 300m in between 1mile cool down jog Total mileage = 4.2miles It was a very good, hard-working session. Thursday: Swim day 40 lengths of front crawl 20 lengths of alternate arm pull and regular front crawl 8 lengths arm pull 2 lengths cool down breaststroke Total: 2.4km I also had dance in the evening: Ballet, Tap and Modern Friday: Long run 10 miles - literally best run in a long time; nice weather and gorgeous location. I took it at a relaxed pace with no pressures to even run 10miles. Saturday: Gym Abductor Adductor Assisted pull ups but I am probably the weakest person you know Ab workout on the mats (plank to press x20 , crunches x50, plank 1:00 , weighted Russian twists x50, plank 1:00, knee tucks x20 - you could repeat but we had limited time) Step machine Cross trainer whilst watching the Great Edinburgh XC Beth and I then went in the hot tub and steam room Sunday 6miles – muscles were a bit sore from the gym, so I took is easy. Another reason I didn’t go too far or push too hard was because… WE WENT TO GET OUR PUPPY TODAY! After 6 years of me trying to convince my family, it finally happened! His name is Jasper and he is a vizsla. Imogen xx
